Woburn Lido was given to the people of Woburn in 1911 as a gift from His Grace the Duke of Bedford. Since then it has been a popular summer attraction for the residents of Woburn and the surrounding villages. It was most recently renovated in 2015 when the new kiosk and changing facilities were built. The pool itself still conforms to the same dimensions as it did in 1911 and thus is 23 metres (25 yards) long and 9 metres (10 yards) wide .
It has a shallow end which is 1m deep and a deeper end of 1.65m. The pool is heated consistently above 26 degrees celsius throughout the summer months allowing for comfortable leisure swimming and long swim workouts. In the winter, the heating is turned off and cold water swimming sessions are available. The variable depth of the pool also makes it perfect for both families and lane swimmers alike.
The goal of Woburn Lido is to give the residents of Woburn and the surrounding villages both a swimming pool that can be used for training and exercise, and also a place to go for a day out with the family. The team works tirelessly to make sure that user comfort and satisfaction is at it's maximum.
