Bedfordshire is an exceptionally well connected county it has major road and rail links from all over the UK and can be reached from Central London in under an hour.
The road network in Bedfordshire is bordered by the M1 on the west and the A1 on the east side of the county, with the A6 connecting the central area. While many of the towns and villages are focusing on becoming as traffic-free as possible in a bid to be more economical, the roads are key to getting around the county, with a range of great villages and market towns linked by the strategic and well maintained road network. There is a great public transport network in Bedfordshire, with several bus and coach operators servicing the towns and villages, but if you need your car for your journey, you’ll find it easy to navigate around the county. If you don’t have access to your car, you can find several taxi operators in the county. Ask at your accommodation for their recommendations, many hotels and taxi companies have agreements where there are discounts or special offers on journeys or hotel rooms. Alternatively, taxis can be found at ranks at the major rail stations, the airport and in some town centres.
The airport is easily accessible and can be found just of Junction 10 on the M1, there are a number of car parks that service the airport, including a park and ride style service offered by a number of independent operators, allowing you the comfort of leaving your car while you use the airport.
Bedfordshire is easily accessed from London and the North of England by the M1 which in turn connects to the M25. The A1 and the A6 are the two main roads leading into and around the county both of which can be easily accessed from the motorway and across the main road network from various parts of the country including the Midlands, the south east and the north.
