As well as fun one off activities, there are also historic landmarks, beautiful countryside and of course, tours of vineyards and breweries offering you a chance to create some of your own concoctions while getting to know each other over shared interests. With everything from country house hotels, luxury conference venues and more, there is a huge choice for anyone wanting to base their events here and many of these are available for exclusive use and have tailored packages to really suit you and your delegates.
So, if you are looking to Bedfordshire for you incentive travel destination, here are a few sample itinerary to give you some ideas of how to spend your time while you’re in the region.
Morning
Arrive at the historic Georgian village of Woburn and spend some time immersing yourself in the narrow streets and examining some of the gorgeous architecture. Parking in certain areas of the village is free, so you can leave your car and explore the village on foot. The Woburn Heritage Centre is the one stop shop for all the village’s history and can be found in the centre. Once you’ve taken in the sights and sounds of the high street, pop into one of the many quaint, independent tea rooms, coffee houses or cafés for some locally sourced food and a little refreshment. Afternoon tea was invented in Bedfordshire after all.
Afternoon
After lunch, head to Woburn Abbey, one of the top rated attractions in the county. Spend a few hours working your way through the art exhibits and beautiful rooms detailing over 500 years of history before heading into the gardens or the surrounding deer park for a wonder and see if you can spot any wild birds or deer. If you’ve time, why not visit the Safari Park and find out more about a whole range of majestic animals.
Evening
For an amazing evening meal, the Woburn Hotel is one of Bedfordshire’s finest country hotel at the heart of the village and standing near the Woburn Abbey Estate. The hotel has its own multi-award winning restaurant, Olivier’s which has maintained its 2 AA rosette for the last ten years in addition to being named winner of the Foodie Guide’s Best Restaurant in Bedfordshire three times. If your team aren’t quite up for retiring after finishing their meal, Woburn village has a selection of country pubs serving a wide range of drinks and bar snacks to keep you entertained before heading back to your hotel.
Morning
Start off the morning in a quiet and peaceful way by exploring some of the town’s parks, you could perhaps grab breakfast to go and enjoy it as you wonder around some of the award-winning green spaces that the town has to offer. You can also use your morning to take in some of the historically important sites in Luton, before grabbing some lunch at one of the many eateries in the town centre.
Afternoon
For the football fanatics in your party, why not spend the afternoon doing a tour of Luton Town Football Club’s grounds? If that doesn’t do it for you. There are also tours available at many of the town’s heritage attractions, so be sure to book one that suits you.
Evening
Grab a bite to eat at the famous Luton Hoo Hotel’s restaurant, the Wernher Restaurant. For some exquisite fine dining, this is one of the best sites in town. This part of the Luton Hoo mansion house was remodelled to look like the Palace of Versailles and is a truly magnificent place to end the day.
