London Luton Airport, previously Luton International Airport, is conveniently located in the heart of Bedfordshire, just 40 miles from London, it is well connected by the road and rail network straight into Bedfordshire for those of you journeying from overseas or into further into the UK.
It is the fifth busiest airport in the UK and the fourth largest airport serving the London area after Heathrow, Gatwick and Stanstead and is one of London’s six international airports alongside London City and Southend. It serves as a base for a number of airlines including EasyJet, TUI Airways, Ryanair and others.
The airport is two miles from Junction 10 of the M1 and aside from Heathrow, has the fastest rail connection from Central London, taking only 22 minutes from St Pancras Station, there is also a shuttle-bus to the airport terminal departing from Luton Airport Parkway Railway Station. The shuttle-bus is an ideal transfer from the station onto the airport, the fare is included in rail tickets or you can pay a small fee on board for those who are not travelling to the airport via rail. The service runs 24 hours a day, every 10 minutes.
Luton Airport Parkway can be found on the Midland Main line from London St Pancreas. Rail services offer direct trains to Bedford calling at Luton, Leagrave, Harlington, Flitwick and then Bedford itself from Thameslink. You can also get rail connections to St Albans, Wimbledon, Sutton, Gatwick Airport and Brighton.
The M1 and A6 are just a few moments away by car and offer direct access to the towns and villages of Bedfordshire. The airport can be found just a few miles away from the M1, which runs southwards to London, northwards to Leeds and connects to the M25.
Airport also offers a range of taxis, coach transfers and local bus services connecting to the county. Route A of the Luton to Dunstable service is a rapid bus route which connects the airport with Luton’s town centre, as well as Dunstable, Houghton Regis and the neighbouring Milton Keynes.
Other bus services are available connecting the airport with towns and cities in the county as well as parts of north London, including the 100 which offers an hourly connection towards Stevenage and Hitchin. There are also a number of direct coach services towards Victoria Coach Station in Central London, including the Green Line route 757, the National Express and Easy Bus which operates from London’s Liverpool Street Station. The National Express services also link to the airports in Stanstead, Heathrow and Gatwick, as well as destinations in the Midlands and the North of England.
A range of other shuttle and bus services are operated by off-site parking companies, offering an alternative for those travelling to the airport by car.
