Get closer to nature by walking the trails leading through the RSPB reserve at Sandy, Beds. Look for woodpeckers, nuthatches and treecreepers in the woods and dragonflies over the ponds in the summer. Bluebells abound in the spring and the heather comes alive in late summer.
Walk across to the Iron Age hillfort on Galley hill, giving commanding views across the Ivel valley. Buzzards and other birds of prey can often be seen soaring over the ridge here.
Children can take our 'BirdBingo' sheets, as well as Wildlife explorer rucksacks, to discover more along the way.
Visit our shop for a wide range of gifts, optics, books, bird feeders and bird food as well as nest boxes and homes for wildlife. You can enjoy an ice cream, drink or a snack or bring a picnic to enjoy sitting on the benches on our lawn.
£4 per vehicle charge covers parking and entrance to reserve. Free to RSPB members.
By Road:Turn into Sandy from the A1. Follow signs for Potton. Reserve entrance on Sandy to Potton Road on right. Disabled parking close to shop and by the bird hide.By Public transport:It is a 10 minute walk from the station.The nearest railway station is Sandy, which is 1 mile away.

The car park opens 7am to 9pm or dusk if earlier and is shut on Christmas day and Boxing day.
The shop is open 9am to 5pm weekdays and 10am to 5pm at weekends and Bank Holidays.
