About

Twinwood Airfield is a former WWII R.A.F. airfield, and it is where the famous American bandleader, Glenn Miller flew from when he disappeared. The site is a now a museum and annually hosts the Twinwood Festival over three days of the August bank holiday weekend.

The festival is internationally renowned for its fabulous live acts of Swing, Jive, Jazz and Rock 'n' Roll.

Road Directions

By Road:
If you are driving from the South, East and West: You will come through Bedford. Clapham is the First village North of Bedford off the A6 (signposted towards Kettering)
Take the A6 going north from Bedford and at the last roundabout on the outskirts of Bedford take the Clapham turn, this road takes you through the village of Clapham and Twinwood Road is off the last roundabout in Clapham Village (3rd Exit for Twinwood Road). Proceed along Twinwood Rd for ½ mile until the woodland and turn right to the car park
Do not take the New Clapham Bypass. However if you do take the Clapham dual carriageway bypass please follow the Bodyflight tourist signs.
If you are driving from the North: Follow the A6 towards Bedford. After the village of Milton Ernest, take the slip road signposted towards Clapham. Go straight over the roundabout and down the hill. At the next roundabout take the 1st exit for Twinwood Road. Proceed along Twinwood Rd for ½ mile until the woodland and turn right to the car park. You can also follow the Bodyflight tourist signs when approaching from the north on the A6.

The nearest railway station is Bedford, which is 5 miles away.
